//THE DEFINITIVE VERSION OF// ====== [NEW] SATURDAY NIGHT SLAM MASTERS ====== ---- {{:video_games:slam_masters_banner.jpg?direct}}\\ One half of the Metroidvania equation and the inspiration for decades of indie games, Castlevania Symphony of the Night remains an important part of gaming history. I actually never owned the original, but the picture of Dracula's castle from the PS1 box art remains eternally burned into my brain from staring at it many times at my friend's house hoping one day I'd be able to afford it. Alas, by the time I could, I no longer had the time to game. Sad. ====== RELEASES ====== ---- ==== ARCADE - 1993 ==== ---- {{ video_games:slam_masters_cover_arcade.jpg?direct }} ---- |**PROS:** | - TEXT HERE\\ - TEXT HERE | |**CONS:** | - TEXT HERE\\ - TEXT HERE | |**NOTES:** | - TEXT HERE\\ - TEXT HERE | ==== FM TOWNS - 1994 ==== ---- {{ video_games:slam_masters_cover_fm_towns.jpg?direct }} ---- |**PROS:** | - TEXT HERE\\ - TEXT HERE | |**CONS:** | - TEXT HERE\\ - TEXT HERE | |**NOTES:** | - TEXT HERE\\ - TEXT HERE | ==== SEGA GENESIS - 1994 ==== ---- {{ video_games:slam_masters_cover_genesis.jpg?direct }} ---- |**PROS:** | - TEXT HERE\\ - TEXT HERE | |**CONS:** | - TEXT HERE\\ - TEXT HERE | |**NOTES:** | - TEXT HERE\\ - TEXT HERE | ==== SNES - 1994 ==== ---- {{ video_games:slam_masters_cover_snes.jpg?direct }} ---- |**PROS:** | - TEXT HERE\\ - TEXT HERE | |**CONS:** | - TEXT HERE\\ - TEXT HERE | |**NOTES:** | - TEXT HERE\\ - TEXT HERE | ====== NOTABLE DIFFERENCES ====== ---- ==== CUTSCENES ==== ---- {{youtube>I9q262TwHQI?}} ---- This is sort of a spoiler, but possibly worth a partial watch if voice acting quality is a deal breaker for you. However, the negatives outweigh the positives and the title of Definitive Version belongs to another release. Now I known the PS1 purist are already upset with me after seeing the PS4 logo, but please just calm down for a second and let your objectivity decide. The PS4 is a great upgrade to the PSP version that allows you to play Symphony of the Night on a much larger screen with minimal lag, and nearly zero slow-down. On top of that you get more items, a new boss, and a quick save feature which is a must for modern gaming. Oh, and by the way, did I forget to mention that the original game director oversaw the development of this version of the game [PSP technically]? If you've never played Symphony of the Night before Castlevania Requiem is the Definitive Version, however, if you're looking for a new experience Saturn might be the way to go, and yes, the original PlayStation version is still a great option. ++++ ====== SUPPLEMENTAL ====== ---- ==== SOUNDTRACK ==== ---- {{youtube>eRmpU0RZOdU?}} \\ ==== CODES & GUIDES ==== ---- [[https://www.vgmuseum.com/mrp/2/nocturne-weapons.htm|List of enemies and items unique to the Saturn version]] \\ === CITATIONS === ~~DISCUSSION~~ {{tag>video_games}}
