Metal Gear Solid was an incredibly important release for both Sony and Konami. It's stealth action, memorable cast, and thrilling boss encounters felt like an experience that couldn't truly exist in any other medium. Too big for a film, and too eccentric for the page Metal Gear Solid was brought to life via the wizardry that is computer code.

PLAYSTATION - 1998

PROS: - Uncensored sort of Johnny scene make sure you crawl towards him and zoom in with the goggles
CONS: - No VR missions
NOTES: - Has small QoL updates and minor changes over the original Japanese version such as additional difficulties, and skippable cutscenes.
- This version has other releases that are known to have some form of lag such as PS2 and PS3

PLAYSTATION [INTEGRAL] - 1999

- Very Easy Mode [Silenced MP5 Submachine gun with unlimited ammo]
- Unlockable first person view
- Additional outfits for Snake, Meryl, and the Ninja
- PocketStation support
CONS: - Item descriptions are only in Japanese.
NOTES: - English subtitles and voice acting are available.

PC [INTEGRAL] - 2000

- Item descriptions in English
CONS: - Possible issues on modern PCs
- The CLICK HERE FOR SPOILER
- Codec frequencies containing the staff commentary and hidden music were removed.

GAMECUBE [TWIN SNAKES] - 2004

PROS: - Upgraded graphics
CONS: - Absurd cutscenes
- Most of the music was replaced
- Some old an new voice actors led to mixed results when re-recording dialogue audio
NOTES: - This version technically isn't considered canon
- There is some debate that the translation might be better in this release [I'll look into it more soon]

PLAYSTATION 2 - 2008

PROS - Nothing of note over previous releases
CONS - Lag on regular disc speed depending on PS2 Model
- Fast disc speed bios setting causes errors
NOTES: - Literally the original Playstation 1 release. Not Integral. It even has two discs in a PS2 case

MULTI [MASTER] - 2023

PROS: - Includes multiple languages
- VR Missions
- Integral and Vanilla versions of the game
CONS: - Minor audio issues throughout such as frag grenades, dialogue, codec and music
- Game is rendered at PS1 resolution then upscaled
